St Andrews Church Band

For our family service at St Andrews Wiveliscombe we try and mix up the music as much as we can and blend traditional with modern.  This is also an opportunity to mix various elements of our church family together.  Our St Andrew's Church band, which combines a mix of experience and enthusiasm, leads part of the service and also performs from its own repertoire of music demonstrating to the congregation the range of worship songs on offer.

The band rehearses generally once a month on the Wednesday before the family service.  The band always welcome new enthusiastic members contact Judith Swan for any information.

For archive videos of the the band performing in June 2009 see our facebook page.

St Andrews Choir

St Andrews Choir sings every Sunday at the 9.45 service at St Andrews and practices on a Friday evening at 7.30 (usually at St Andrews). The choir generally leads with an Introit before processing into the church where they lead from the front for all sung elements of the service and hymns.  At the Family Commuium service it is good to see the choir coming together with the band to sing the more contemporary style worship songs.

The Church Singers

The Church Singers was formed in 2005 to support church services mainly in Chipstable as well as the rest of the hill churches.

They support services around the four rural churches within the benefice as well as joining together with the St Andrew's Choir to support special services in the benefice.  Their regular slot is at Chipstaple on the second Sunday of the month where they can be found supporting the 11.15 Holy Communium service.

The choir is led by Claire Wren who also sings tenor in a well supported and committed group of choristers. They regularly practice at Langley Marsh for information on the church singers e-mail  Claire Wren.

The 4 Towers Choir

The 4 Towers Choir is a secular choir based in the local area and has been in existence for over 25 years and directed by Claire Wren for the last 9 years. Generally a concert choir raising money for local charities including the the hospices it has been dormant for the last few years

But watch this space ... Claire's new ambition is to join the 4 Towers Choir and the Church Singers, plus anybody else who is interested is to set up a Wiveliscombe Community Choir  singing a broad repertoire of music singing a secular programme and church music  to perform at local concerts and events.

They would welcome singers who have had some experience, however limited, in choral singing, who have some idea of how music works (not necessarily how to read it but willing to learn). Please contact Claire Wren  if you are interested.
